The healing process is different for everyone - throw your expectations out the door now. A range of emotions, physical sensations and experiences may arise before, during or after the session - relaxation, joy, anger, sadness, grief, pleasure, pain, relief, etc. Past traumas may come to the surface to be healed. Projections may occur. Healing is not linear and each process is unique. These sessions are co-creative and I will not be held liable for any pain or discomfort you experience. I intend that we communicate together to be clear and in agreement in which modalities and areas of the body are worked with. By working with me, you agree to be clear in what your needs, desires and intentions are, and to speak up to the best of your ability in what feels good or what you'd like different.
How often should I receive bodywork and coaching?
The work continues to unfold days after a session - if you're coming in for a specific complaint and you're still experiencing pain, discomfort, irritation, etc. a day or two after your session, I recommend coming in again 2-3 days later. Craniosacral therapy especially is a deeply transformational modality, which may seem subtle at first, but when you pay attention, and receive more frequent sessions, you'll notice profound changes.
Depending on your situation, one session may be enough to turn your life around, but generally I recommend at least a 90-minute session weekly for 1-4 months for optimal change. It depends how fully you'd like to live, how far you want to reach, and how well we work together. At least once monthly is ideal for regular maintenance and prevention.
Cancellation
Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance to prevent any fees. Late cancellations will be charged 50% of the session cost. If I must cancel unexpectedly, you will receive 50% off your next session. On heavy snow days when the schools are closed and it's unsafe for anyone to drive, no fee will be charged.
Confidentiality
Any information you share with me will be kept private and will not be seen or heard by anyone else unless you sign a consent form. Should my records be subpoenaed by a court of law, I will surrender only portions of my records pertinent to an insurance or medical case.
Illness & Hygiene
I expect you and I to show mutual respect and consideration for each others comfort and health by coming to the session clean, having any open wounds covered, and rescheduling the session if you or I are sick.
Intoxication
Intoxicated clients may be denied massage and charged 50% the cost of the service. This includes intoxication of THC, alcohol, opioids and hallucinogens. Healing sessions with me are generally most beneficial when you're sober, even if it's uncomfortable. If you have medicinal or therapeutic reasons for taking these substances, please discuss this with me before coming in for a session.
Tipping
In the massage industry, when you pay the therapist directly, tips are not expected. They are always appreciated, but in this case, not necessary. Tipping etiquette is different in a place like Bodywork Bistro or a spa where the therapist receives a portion of the income. The standard amount in that sort of business is 20-25% of the original rate.
If you'd like to express gratitude in another way, referrals or reviews on sites such as Google are much appreciated. If there is anything I can do to improve your next bodywork experience, please let me know. I intend to create and allow the greatest healing experience possible for the benefit of you, me and all beings. Thank you!
